my layout !

In order to catch the class attention and introduce my classmates to my topic i think i would begin by  showing general pictures of  the earthquake that happened in Haiti and show pictures of basically what was left of Haiti after the earthquake occurred ! Pictures are always eye openers , and catch attention quickly .
The central argument i make in my essay is that the U.S does Aid Haiti with resources but when you really take a inside look at things it's more N.G.Os's and individual artists that are really of help in Haiti . people don't often give the main people credit they just give the U.S as a whole credit . i will present this argument by  showing articles and telling classmates the many people who have been of help to Haiti . get them familiar with diff rent names other then the U.S . A few key pieces of evidence that support my argument  has to be the many different groups that i would show pointing out who's who in my essay , i would present them by showing you paper work of sources .my visual element would be like i said before pictures of  the earthquake and what was the in packed it made on Haiti , artists helping rebuild Haiti etc . the way I would work this into my presentation would be by giving out handouts of those things . someways i think make for an effective oral presentation would have to be to be active , move around , speak loud , show picture , try to keep them aware of your presentation .

the intro to my research paper .

Have you ever thought to yourself “ who helps the many people of the many different countries overcome there earthquakes , there natural disasters ? ”  Have you ever really took a good hard look at the  organizations claiming they assists  and that there help is going directly to those who are in greater needs ? Some of those organizations do speak the truth and they honestly help out those in need but in reality its all but so little help .  A country I mainly focus on has to be Haiti . There’s a country you dont really hear about everyday , they struggle with Hurricanes and tropical storms and earthquakes . there government is not a really powerful so when the natural disasters strikes they seek help from other’s .  This is where my argument comes into place , when a place like Haiti ask for help certain organizations just seat around and talk . No actions are being taken what so ever !

Annotated Bibliography

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Haiti_earthquake

This source came from wikipedia and  it's main focus is  on the  21st century and the  problems that is occurring in Haiti during this time , Like the earthquakes, major damages and how many countries responded to appeals for humanitarian aid. Dispatching rescues and medical teams and how they come to help Haiti after there natural disasters  .It also talks about the condition Haiti was in after there earthquakes. Am focusing on this because i would like to base my research paper on the cause and effects of the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

I then found this very interesting source ! This came from the new York times , Haitian Cry in Letters  . It showed basally letter’s from people in Haitians refugee camps asking from help .In the last couple of weeks, thousands of displaced  have similarly vented their concerns, depositing impassioned pleas for help in new suggestion boxes at a hundred camps throughout the disaster zone. all kinds of people are dropping  letters seeking help into a collection box at the camp for displaced earthquake survivors where there are now living .

This is a journal entry of Haiti’s earthquake relief , there long term needs and there local resources. Dominique Bayard  explains that she saw Haitian’s people helping themselves . She did not see really  Other’s Aiding Haiti but the ones that are simply from Haiti . In this entry she say’s that it hurts her how little help Haiti does not receive the help they truly need . How they need to build emergency room’s but no one want’s to help . Am focusing on this entry because i would love to understand who helps Haiti or just any other place’s that are affected by natural disasters.

This is a article from the NEW YORK Times , in this article they talk about how $1 Billion is pledged to help Haiti rebuild  . International donors pledged $1.08 billion to help Haiti , supassing the $924 million requested by Haitian government.

starting my Annotated bibliography was a bit difficult simply because i don't really have a main focus .  I would like my main topic to be "The rebuilding of Haiti " but i think that's to broad . so for now i will keep thinking but in the meantime i got some really good sources for this topic .

this source came from wikipedia and  it's mean focus is on mainly on  21st century problems that is occurring in Haiti. Like the earthquakes major damages and how many countries responded to appeals for humanitarian aid and pledging finds and dispatching rescue and medical teams .It also talks about the condition in the aftermath's of everything .

What they dont want you too see !

4) In the film we see many graphic scenes of war. Many were shown on the news in the United States while the war was being fought. In more recent wars, fewer of these images have been seen by the public. Do you think these images serve a purpose? Should they be shown?

I never really got a clear understanding of what a war was because I was honestly not really interested in it. Having seen this film in class "hearts and minds” by Peter Davis it completely changed my whole mind set on the war life! There were all kinds of different sources in this film, from real images to interviews, news footage to scenes from old movies. In the film we see many graphic scenes of war. Many were shown on the news in the United States while the war was being fought. Many of those images touched my heart dearly. Images of U.S soldier's beating Vietnam's people, soldier's burning down houses with people still in them. In more recent wars, fewer of these images have been seen by the public. So why is that? I think those images from our former wars served all Americans a purpose. That purpose was making the people more aware of what was really happening in our wars! To open the eyes of other's and let them see that the war was cruel and unjust. Not only to the the other side of the fighting world but also to our side.  Our soldier’s were abusing their powers correct but it was also affecting our soldier’s. The war left people, paralyzed, brain dead, terrorized, in fear! Was this worthy of a fight? Of a war? I honestly think they should have shown these images and continue showing these images so that the public could be well informed of what’s going on in our wars. So that many people that our not well informed could be more considered of our issues with other countries and other nations.

MY BRAINSTORM !

Its funny because the first countries i felt the need of writing the research paper on had to be Puerto Rico simply because am from there ! But then it came to mind that i know everything from there because am from there , i wanna explore a different place ! A  place that i could learn a couple of things i dont know about before this paper . i decided to go with Haiti ! they always interested me because of there natural disturals and there way of life . i dont really know much about there relationship with the untied states but what  i do know is that Haiti tends to go through natural disturals and debts problems and the u.s always seems to pick up where they left off . maybe the relationship they share with the U.S could be the military system , there poverty problems. when i looked up my countries on Wikipedia i got all types of stuff . something i got in one of the entry's that i found somewhat important has to be there understanding of the economy problems that's going on . people from this country and its relationship to u.s has to be maybe there economic exchange and there government systems . I think the way people from this country and the U.S. come into contact with each other could be through cultural exchange , economic exchange & medical issues . When i looked at my Wikipedia entry of the country  i chose the only thing i could say that was good as to provide something worth using had to be there entry with the new York times , they talked about the pledge the U.S is doing  to help Haiti rebuild there place . i found that real interesting . one information that it had that i did not find important was there facts on Haitian diaspora , how Millions of Haitians live abroad. that's not something i really care about .

Tourism is travel for recreational, leisure or business purposes.

A    Small   place,   By   Jamaica   Kincaid and   “Slum   dog   tourism   “by   Kennedy   odede   discuss   the   ethics   of   tourism   and   relationship   to   power.    Tourism   can   tell   us   a   lot   about   power   in   today’s   world   ,  it could tell us how it makes our  economy grow because whenever a tourist goes on vacation and they choose to buy souvenirs the place they visited  profits off of that . It also could tell us how tourism and power profits  in the world today by showing people the different and  popular beliefs people around the world share . It could also show  what countries are most visited and  which countries have the most  attractions . The many famous cities that get alot of tourists. Mainly it could show us the  advantages we all share with other places  .
The many things i think motivates tourists  has  to be just to break out of there routines back home . To get away from there 9 to 5 and to  go away to relax in a stress-free environment . It could also be for business purposes or just to do something different . In a film we watched in class directed  by Stephanie Black  Kincaid said that “ tourists have a responsibility to places they visit  economic wise or power wise “ . I  agree with what she says this does cause ethical problems with tourism because what people often fail to see is that where you go to vacation at that place is profiting from you by you spending your money there .  So therefore the economy  changes as the place gets more or less visitors . Less visitors more money to be made !
Tourists visit all these lovely  places  and see all this fancy hotels and nice  places  to  eat at  these nice beaches and nice customer service , different cultures  , fun attractions and pure entertainment  but what they fail to see is the hard work  that goes into all of this ! what they fail to see is all the poverty outside of there fancy resorts , its a whole different scenery outside of there vacations you see ! It’s a lifestyle that people struggling to get by so they work for those who come to the resort .  To me honestly i think the power relationship between tourists and the places they come from has to be the clear understanding of the way of other’s lifestyle . They don’t know what others go through because they themselves haven’t been through it ! I honestly do not  see the relationship between tourism and  colonialism  , tourism is the practice of traveling for pleasure as to  colonialism is a policy .
